It is now July, and we have officially entered the ‘sweat in weird places’ season. I know many of you dread summer dressing, and I get it. Getting dressed just to sweat through your clothes isn’t my favorite either. However, I consider getting dressed a form of self care, and I need to do it to feel happy. That’s why, even in the dog days of summer, I take the time to pick out my outfit and style my looks most days.
I’ve heard from multiple people who feel the exact same way. And I’m here to help you. I’ve got a few tips and tricks for looking chic in hot weather all while being comfortable. To help give you some ideas, I’ve got three looks for summer all for different occasions including work, date night, and the weekend.
All three outfits featured here are from Abercrombie, a brand that just gets summer dressing. They carry everything from workwear, date night tops, a range of jean styles, vacation wear, and wedding guest dresses. Their prices are extremely reasonable, too. Plus, many of their pieces are available in petite, tall, and regular size options. We love to see it.
What To Wear On The Weekend
Flowy dresses are the name of the game for summer weekends. Not only does it require minimal decision making in terms of styling (I think we can all appreciate that this time of year), a flowy dress like the one I’m wearing here is loose and barely even touches the skin giving it ease and wearability. If you’re like me, anything that’s too tight in the summer months, especially during the daytime, is a nonstarter. Bonus points for an open back situation.

What To Wear For Work
Dressing for work is probably the most difficult considering you have to look somewhat professional, and the temperature can vary wildly between inside and outside. My advice here is to stick with more tailored pieces in summer friendly silhouettes like sleeveless tops and tailored shorts. This look features a very chic sweater vest option that has a loose fit and wears easy (no tucking required) paired with the summer version of a trouser, the tailored short.

If I needed to dress business casual for summer, I would definitely buy both color options of these tailored shorts and wear them each multiple times per week. The quality is excellent, they have nice drape, and the length is perfectly modest for work. I recommend taking your larger size. I’m wearing the 25 for reference.
What To Wear For Date Night
As a millennial, my date night look will always include a ‘going out’ top. In the summer, this translates to a cute little tank. This is where Abercrombie truly shines; multiple options abound on their site, and I’ve got several linked below to suit your fit preference. I particularly love the one I’m wearing here that’s basic but better. The twisted details on the shoulders and the ruching along the bodice not only make this top really flattering but also give it some extra details that make it special for date night.

In the colder months, I’ll usually pair a cute top with a pair of full length jeans and heels, but for summer, we’re swapping those jeans for a pair of flowy tailored shorts to keep things cool. These are the same ones from the work outfit above; yay for versatility!
I hope this post gave you some ideas for dressing this summer. I used to dread getting dressed this time of year, but I’ve learned it doesn’t have to be that way. And this is coming from someone who trends toward the sweaty side of the spectrum so you can trust me. Here’s to embracing all that summer brings, soaring temps included.

Suuuuper cute but I don’t know of a single business casual office that lets you wear shorts, no matter the length! 😂 Definitely checking out the going out tops though!
Love the way you style those black shorts multiple ways!
